Attending an Away NFL Game

Thinking about attending an away NFL game to watch your favorite team? It’s easier than you think. Sometimes attending an away game may be simpler than attending a home game due to factors like team popularity or ticket prices. Why not turn it into a weekend getaway and explore a city you’ve never visited before? Whether you’re a New England Patriots fan or a Kansas City Chiefs supporter, consider these tips for an unforgettable experience.

Planning Your Trip to attending an away NFL Game

  1. Duration: Plan for at least two nights. If the NFL game is on a Sunday, arrive on Saturday and depart on Monday. This allows time to explore the visiting city and enjoy some nice dinners.

  2. Getting Around: Most stadiums are conveniently located within 20-30 minutes of the city center. For example:

  • The Las Vegas Raiders play at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, just a short distance from the Las Vegas Strip.

  • The Washington Commanders play in Landover, Maryland, which isn’t as accessible to Washington, DC.

  • The San Francisco 49ers’ home in Santa Clara is 45 miles away from the city.

  • Interestingly, nearly a third of NFL teams don’t actually play in the cities they’re named after.

  1. Stadium Locations:

  • The Los Angeles Rams and Chargers play in Inglewood, California.

  • Both the New York Giants and Jets call East Rutherford, New Jersey, home.

  • The Las Vegas Raiders represent Paradise, Nevada.

  • The Dallas Cowboys play their home games in Arlington, Texas.

  • The Washington football team resides in Landover, Maryland.

  • The Miami Dolphins’ stadium is in Miami Gardens.

  • The Buffalo Bills play in Orchard Park, New York.

Logistics and Tailgating

  • Hotel Selection: Finding a suitable hotel near the stadium is crucial. As your travel advisor, I can recommend the best packages that include ideal accommodations and transportation options.

  • Tailgating: No NFL game is complete without tailgating! For instance:

  • At a Las Vegas Raiders game, attend the Stadium Walk Tailgate outside Luxor Resort four hours before kickoff. Food and drinks are available for purchase.

  • For Buffalo Bills games, the pre-game tailgate is across the street from Highmark Stadium.

Additional Recommendations

  • Stadium Tours: Consider a stadium tour the morning after the game. NFL stadiums are modern marvels. For example, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, offers tours that may include the Club Level, Jerry Jones Perch, Cotton Bowl office, Luxury Suite, Cheerleaders Locker Room, Cowboys Locker Room, and even Field Access (when available).

  • Ticket Availability: Keep in mind that availability varies by stadium and game. Some stadiums have limited tickets due to season ticket holders.

  • Seamless Travel: To make your trip as smooth as possible, I recommend including transportation from the airport upon arrival and departure. If needed, I can also provide car rental suggestions.

Enjoy the game, the tailgating, and the entire NFL experience! 🏈🎉
