Single? Worried about taking a cruise as a single? Cruise suppliers offer a "single supplement", that allows you to pay a small premium to take a cruise by yourself. Most cruise ship rooms are built for couples or families, but you can still go by yourself, you just get more room for yourself. We'll discuss how to cruise if you are single and be stress-free.
Dining on a cruise alone
You don't necessarily have to dine with others if you do not want to. One of the first things you can do is find the host station or table in one of the restaurants. You can tell them what your preferences are. On some of the luxury cruises there maybe bar seating where you can just pull up a chair. Again don't stress out, you have options.
Activities and excursions on a cruise
This is probably where you will have the most freedom. You may still be paired up with a group of folks wile on an excursion but you can sit back and blend in. There wont be any group activities that you have to pair up. There wont be any issues here.
Single and ready to mingle
If you are single and ready to mingle, some cruises are party cruises. Look for a cruise that will have a vibrant nightlife. If you are more focused on a cultural experience, I would avoid a party cruise.
How much does a cruise cost for a single?
There is a slight premium for cruising as a single. The costs usually is about 10% more of the per person price. Let's say for example, a cruise is $1000 for two people. The per person price would be $500. You must then add the 10% premium for the single supplement, which would be $50, making the price to sail as a single $550.
Cruising as a single limitations
The one limitation sailing as a single is the kind of room offered. There maybe some rooms specifically designed for singles, but there maybe a limited number of rooms offered per cruise or they may only offer single supplements for certain cruises.
The cruising experience as a single
Rest assured cruising as a single you will be offered the same attentive service, same assistance with planning shore excursions. The experience will be the same!
